Sarah Sczepanski
Artxtiles for FreeSpirit Fabrics
“The abstract nature of my monotypes translates beautifully on textiles and designing fabrics was a natural progression for my art because of my professional expertise in fashion.”
Sarah Sczepanski is an artist and designer whose prints are abstract and geometric focused with color combinations inspired by nature.
Rust & Bloom is inspired by the beauty of nature with a nod to the evolution of living things.
“I like to utilize the unique and unexpected textures of both natural and man-made objects such as a beehive pattern, a rolling tide, to the natural patterns of ice on a windowpane.”
Sarah is drawn to the one-of-a-kind printmaking monotype process because it always includes an element of surprise – “you never know exactly how your painting will be transformed by the pressure of the press.”
The twelve designs in Rust & Bloom are made from Sarah’s original monotypes.
Her keen sense of color and design, such as the ochre skies of a morning sunrise to the deep blues of a winter night in Rust & Bloom, show the beauty of a full day in nature and create truly unique, modern, and organic prints.
